I can see that you're hurting, the struggle is real

But you keep to yourself, too scared to reveal

Maybe I can help, because I’ve been there too

I have the voice of experience, not an outside view

Life is difficult, but we humans make it harder

We can’t just live, we’re forced to beg and barter

Our day is a paycheck, our time is a waste

We’re never really sated, just living on taste

I know you’re tired, I know you’re asking why

I’m sure it’s even hard to find the energy to try

Why do we do this? Why do we stand it?

Why do we let greedy people leave us empty handed?

You’re feelings are valid and you’re not alone

A struggle to survive is all you’ve been shown

But there is more to this, it isn’t just toil

It’s a burgeoning garden with fertile soil

Life is happening for you, that’s the secret truth

You’re not living out a punishment earned in your youth

Words spoken over you can control your life

But just because it was said doesn’t mean it was right

A person can only give from what they have inside

Realize that they’re hurting when they make you want to hide

Don’t take things personally, although I know that’s very hard

But thinking it’s your fault will only leave you scarred.

You are powerful and you can change

You can learn new subjects, expand your range.

Take care of your body, take deeper breaths

Set healthy boundaries, get plenty of rest.

You can’t control life, no matter how you try

But you can control yourself; you can let yourself cry

Feel your emotions, don’t be afraid to express

But don’t blame others, just watch yourself progress
